Smilegate Future Lab Foundation (Chairman Kwon Hyuk-bin) announced that it will be recruiting teams to participate in the ‘Burning Beaver Indie Game & Culture Festival 2024’ (from now on, Burning Beaver 2024) for one month from August 23 to September 23.
‘Burning Beaver’, hosted by the Smilegate Future Lab Foundation, is an event designed to expand the domestic indie game development environment and support creators. This is the third year of the event, and over 10,000 visitors have visited, and over 1,000 creators have participated, showcasing over 400 indie games.
Burning Beaver 2024 will be held three days from November 29 to December 1 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Jung-gu, Seoul. Any team or individual developer planning and producing an indie game can apply. Applicants should submit an application form and a game that can be played on the Burning Beaver homepage. The final results will be announced on October 17.
Future Lab Foundation officials will select participating teams by comprehensively considering submitted games and application forms. They will focus on evaluating the originality of the game, the novelty of the story, and the level of completion.
Participating teams will receive generous benefits, including an exhibition booth, various devices needed for game demonstrations, and creator-only goods. Accommodation and lunch will also be provided during the event.
Future Lab Foundation team leader Hwang Ju-hoon said, “Burning Beaver is a festival that allows the public to enjoy indie game culture naturally. Additionally, we have prepared various programs to attract attention to indie games and creators.” He added, “We plan to present a variety of content that creators and users who love indie games can enjoy, so we ask for your continued interest this year as well.”
