Information on the winners of the ‘Global Indie Game Production Contest (from now on referred to as GIGDC) 2023’, called the gateway for game developers, has been released.
The Korea Game Developers Association announced the list of winners of this year’s contest through the GIGDC official website on the 18th. In the production sector (general department, university department, middle and high school department) and planning department (university department, middle and high school department), four teams were selected from the grand prize to the bronze award-winning team. The team has been named.
GIGDC is a contest sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency, and supervised by the Korea Game Developers Association. It was held to revitalize the indie game production culture and expand the foundation of the domestic game industry by encouraging the production of creative and original game content. The contest attracts a lot of attention from game developers every year, and this year, submissions were made through the GIGDC2023 official website for ten days, from June 26th to July 6th.
Award winners at GIGDC are provided with various support project benefits. Participation in the Tokyo Game Show exhibition to strengthen global expansion capabilities, customized competency strengthening programs for each developer level, publication and promotion of interview articles through game-specialized news sites, and production of promotional videos consisting of game and team introductions fall into this category.
Participants in the mentoring program are provided with a certificate of completion issued by the Korea Game Developers Association, the host. The association plans to offer additional benefits, such as introducing an incubating center for developers and interview opportunities with indie game developers.
Stove Indie, a sponsor of GIGDC, also carries out support projects from various angles. An exhibition page for GIGDC winners will be opened in Stove Indie in September, and a dedicated page will be prepared to introduce this year’s award winners along with past winners and for users to play the game. In addition, special lectures for developers, such as crowdfunding strategies and know-how from experts, will be held.
The awards ceremony for the final 20 winners selected through preliminary and final screenings at this year’s GIGDC Contest will be held on November 3rd. Detailed information on the award-winning works can be found on the GIGDC official website.
