Smilegate Future Lab Center (Chairman Hyukbin Kwon, hereinafter referred to as ‘Future Lab’) announced on the 6th that it will hold ‘Burning Beaver 2022’, an on-offline hybrid indie game festival.
Burning Beaver 2022 is a festival where indie game creators, workers, and the public can gather and enjoy indie game culture, including indie game exhibitions, conferences, creator lounges, business matching, and cultural experiences. Indie game teams to participate in the exhibition by October 23 are recruited through the website.
Burning Beaver 2022 will be held in a separate pop-up space on the main street of Garosu-gil, Sinsa-dong, Seoul for three days from December 16 to 18. Also, it will be held at the ‘Burning Beaver 2022 Online Exhibition Hall’ of Smilegate Stove (hereinafter referred to as ‘Stove’) for one month from the date of the event.
About 80 booths will be installed during the festival period, providing a space where various indie games can be displayed and experienced. At the conference, the indie game industry trends are expected, creators share their know-how, and lectures to support their growth will be presented.
In addition to networking among creators, there will also be sessions where stakeholders such as publishers, investors, and public institutions can hold business meetings. Through the networking lounge between creators and various events that visitors can enjoy, you can enjoy a variety of game culture.
In particular, this festival is noteworthy in that it is held in a hybrid format that is held both online and offline. At the ‘Burning Beaver 2022 Online Exhibition Hall’ on the stove platform, you can enjoy more than 150 games without restrictions of place and time.
In addition, Stove’s next-generation social video service, P.pool, will provide online services such as conferences and creator lounges. In addition, the Burning Beaver Space was opened on the Metaverse platform so that visitors can enjoy the festival in a comfortable environment.
Smilegate Stove CEO Han Young-woon said, “Stove has established itself as a platform that supports indie game creators to improve game quality and experience better business achievements. We will actively support it so that it can become a festival where creators and users can enjoy game culture by adding technology,” he said.
“Smilegate has been supporting indie game creators company-wide for the past 10 years so that the indie game creation ecosystem can be established and revitalized at the group level,” said Kwon Hyuk-bin, president of Smilegate Future Lab Center. It is significant as a festival that combines the sincerity and expertise of Smilegate, which has supported the game ecosystem, and is Asia’s leading indie game festival where indie creators can enjoy game culture and grow together with fellow creators. I look forward to being reborn.”
