Gyeonggi-do will establish a ‘Gyeonggi-do Game Resource Sharing Platform (www.resourcebank.or.kr)’ operating organization on the 11th of next month to create a coexistence game culture and spread shared values by free sharing of resources such as graphics and sound necessary for game development. It was announced on the 30th that the public offering would be open until the 30th.
Gyeonggi-do is the center of the domestic game industry, where a number of game companies are concentrated around Pangyo, but 93% of game companies in the province are small and small-scale companies with less than 1 billion won in sales. In particular, although game resources such as graphics, sound, and visual effects are essential elements for game development, small and medium-sized game developers and individual developers are having difficulties in supplying quality resources due to the cost burden and shortage of manpower.
Gyeonggi Province is operating the ‘Gyeonggi-do Game Resource Sharing Platform’, a free game resource support platform for small and medium-sized game developers and indie game developers. Last year, a total of 2,066 game resources were secured and a shared platform was operated. Through the resource bank project, the province supported the development of customized game resources worth about 20 million won for nine game development companies in the province that were about to launch, and promoted the competition to strengthen the self-reliance of indie game companies.
The subject of application for the competition is a non-profit corporation or non-profit private organization that can produce, provide, or broker game resources and has a main office in Gyeonggi-do as of the announcement date.
The operating institutions selected for the open call project will receive a total of 150 million won in project expenses, secure and manage game resources in 2022, and build and operate a shared platform.
Organizations wishing to apply for the project can visit the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office (1 Hyowon-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si) with the relevant documents by April 11 or submit by registered mail.
For details such as application form, please refer to the recruitment notice in the Notice/Announcement section of the Gyeonggi-do website (www.gg.go.kr).
