Production costs and development infrastructure support for early-stage indie developers… Applications accepted until April 2nd.
The Chungbuk Global Game Center (cbgame.org), supported by Cheongju City and operated by the Cheongju City Cultural Industry Promotion Foundation, has begun recruiting teams to participate in the ‘2026 Indie Startup Production Support Project.’
This project is a program that supports game production for indie game developers and early-stage startup teams in the Chungcheongbuk-do region, and is being promoted with the aim of expanding the startup ecosystem of the local game industry.
Applications will be accepted until April 2nd, and can be submitted online through the subsidy integrated portal e-Nara Help.
Production support program for early-stage indie development teams
The “Indie Startup Production Support” program helps early-stage game development teams grow to the prototype and commercialization stages. Its unique feature is that it simultaneously supports game production costs and development infrastructure for early-stage development teams facing challenges securing funding and a development environment.
Development teams selected through this Indie Startup Production Support Program will receive approximately 40 million won per company for game production costs. This funding is designed to support early-stage indie development teams through prototype development and game commercialization preparation, and is unique in that production costs are paid without any additional out-of-pocket matching.
The grant can be used to develop game content for various platforms, including mobile, PC, and VR. Selected teams will be able to utilize the Chungbuk Global Game Center’s development equipment, testing environment, and shared facilities . This will provide both financial support and development infrastructure, which is expected to be a practical help in improving the development environment for early-stage indie development teams.
In addition, the selected team will be able to utilize various development equipment, testing environments, and shared development spaces owned by the Chungbuk Global Game Center, along with game production support funds.
Supporting the growth of indie developers
The Chungbuk Global Game Center plans to operate a program that supports the entire development process, not just production costs.
Selected teams will receive support including: ▲ use of game development equipment and testbeds ▲ provision of development environment and shared facilities ▲ technical advice during the development process ▲ participation in commercialization and networking programs.
The center aims to provide this support to help early development teams improve the quality of their games and lay the groundwork for entering the market.
Separate operation from production support business
This indie startup production support project is operated separately from the ‘Game Content Production Support Project.’
While the Game Content Production Support Program targets corporate game companies above a certain size, the Indie Startup Production Support Program is designed for developers in the early stages of their careers or small indie teams. Duplicate applications for both programs are not permitted.
Chungbuk’s role as a gaming industry hub
The Chungbuk Global Game Center is a gaming industry support organization established in the Cheongju High-Tech Cultural Industry Complex in 2018. The center serves as a hub for fostering the gaming industry in the Chungbuk region through various programs, including support for gaming companies, training of professional talent, and establishment of industry networks.
The Chungbuk Global Game Center expects that this indie startup production support will contribute to the discovery of local indie development teams and the expansion of the startup ecosystem.
