The ‘2024 Global Game Developers Conference (GGDC)’, where you can check out the global trends and future prospects of the domestic and international game industry, has concluded successfully.

This event was held on October 11th and 12th at Jeonil Building 245 and Gwangju Video Complex Culture Center. Hosted by Gwangju Metropolitan City and organized by Gwangju Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency, under the theme of ‘A New Beginning for K-GAME, Gwangju’. Also sponsored by Korea Creative Content Agency, Korea Mobile Game Association, Korea Game Media Association, Microsoft, One Store, NCsoft, Pearl Abyss, Geniesoft, Qroad, and Game Rating and Administration Committee.

This conference, in which 40 domestic and international game developers and game development experts participated as speakers, was held simultaneously in two tracks at the 1st lecture hall of Jeonil Building 245 and the 2nd lecture hall of Gwangju Video Complex Culture Center.

The GGDC 2024 session, which opened with a keynote speech by One Store CEO Jeon Dong-jin (Topic: One Store Global Strategy and Platform Changes), was a meaningful event where, in addition to the participation of various overseas speakers, including speakers from Malaysia and India, leading Korean game companies, such as Kakao Games, Neowiz, and 4:33, could understand domestic and international game industry trends.

In particular, through a special symposium held together with GGDC 2024, game industry experts unanimously agreed that “events like the ‘Global Game Developers Conference (GGDC)’ should increase to develop the Korean game ecosystem,” and that they look forward to Gwangju’s first step as a new starting point for K-GAME and its positive synergy.

In addition to lectures, GGDC 2024 also included an indie game showcase exhibition, board game experience, comics market, and cosplay event open to the general public, making it a successful event that received a great response from not only game developers but also the general public.

Lee Gyeong-ju, the head of the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, said, “We plan to continue the GGDC and make more efforts to live up to its name as a global conference,” and emphasized, “As a center of Asian culture with the National Asia Culture Center, we will first try to make it a representative conference of Asia by strengthening Asian and global speakers.”
